These were built as casting prototypes for one of my trade customers. These fly rods are built to the same standard as all of my built cane blanks, but are built using NOS fittings rather than my own custom made fittings, and a slightly lower grade of cork for the handles. 

Both rods have been cast with a variety of lines by a professional fly fishing guide and have remained unused since.

The Payne 97 is a classic American taper 7ft two piece rod designed for a #4 line. 

A lovely casting rod, which is slightly faster in action than most classic English cane fly rods, a great first cane fly rod.

The Black Beauty was originally manufactured by Heddon in America and is a 7ft 6" two piece rod suitable for a #4/5 line.
